At the Drop of a Frame: Measuring the Performance of Graphics on TVs

An experiment found that a DOM application can perform better than WebGL on low powered hardware, such as Raspberry Pi 3B+, resulting in fewer dropped frames. An HDMI capture device and ImageMagick software were used to measure the quality experienced by the viewer. The results indicate that DOM was close to achieving the target 60 FPS, suggesting collaboration to further improve support for these applications. An experiment found that a DOM application can perform better than WebGL on low powered hardware, such as Raspberry Pi 3B+, resulting in fewer dropped frames.
